Roar with Good Vibes to Kick off The decade
*Sponsored journal entry by Halcyon Naturals
Hey Hey,
Is it a little too late in this speedy month to say Happy New Year?
We’re kicking off this decade on a positive step to bring great vibes into your home. Any whiff of a bad smell or negative energy ruins any sort of grand entrance, so I’m here to remind you of an easy solution. I say to remind you not to introduce it because if you haven’t heard of a candle yet I’m not sure where you’ve been.
What’s your most memorable story of sweet-smelling spaces or rancid pongs….. a wet dog aroma even? Spill the beans in the comments below.
At home, you’re missing a trick when not tickling those nasal hairs in every room. Plus, you’re for sure creating a not-so-welcoming vibe for your guests, even those unexpected ones who lie about being in the area. Ha! While we’re at it, let’s throw drawers and cupboards into the mix too, because opening the doors to a lush-smelling linen cupboard beats a whiff of something stale any day.
Introducing Scent Heaven that is Halcyon Naturals
Strike a match to Set the vibe
The best luxury is your health, don’t you agree? One reason why I wanted to highlight how awesome Halcyon Naturals are is that it’s a luxury brand in more ways than one. Small businesses that do quality products are worth raving about, and being respectful of people, place and planet gives it extra brownie points.
I have to give a nod to a great hand-poured candle, since being nasally disappointed at most of Maison Et Objet as well as most attempts at buying a candle on the high street. Wishy-washy labelling keeping tight-lipped about the type of wax being used is annoying. Raise your hand if you agree! The same goes for "fragrance” which is about as informative as no label at all. Urgh.
Living in a time that needs solutions, not air pollutants
Indoor Air Quality has bad consequences for our health including our productivity, a factor to consider for all the rising numbers working from home. Thankfully Halcyon Naturals isn’t here to add to the pollution like many brands that use materials lacking in quality and care for the effects it’s having on our health.
(According to the Trade Union Congress its set tories by 27% in the next 10 years)
Halcyon Naturals is open and honest and founder Sarah learnt her stuff. I went along to the launch event in 2019 to hear her speak about toxins in the air and the reasoning behind doing better than clogging up the air with synthetic scents. She took time to understand how fab pure essential oils can be. I’m rather impressed by how much goes into the whole candle making process.

Halcyon Naturals comes to the wellness arena to raise your mood in 4 ways. Each of which comes with a signature candle PLUS (because who doesn’t love a bonus) and 3 other scents to compliment it.

Halcyon Naturals may be a newbie on the home scent scene yet takes influence from the original roaring 20s and all things Art Deco, pretty fitting for this new decade of 2020.
Style-wise, if you like a bit of glam combined with a healthy slant, here you go…..thank me later. You’re welcome!
Delivers on packaging
There’s always a chance that you’ll be bombarded with bubble wrap when deliveries arrive in the post, especially true when it comes to fragile materials like glass. But I’m beginning to think it’s just a lazy excuse when brands like Halcyon Naturals can deliver glass products with ease yet minus plastic. Receiving none of that makes life a little less cluttered and the planet a smidgen happier.
My gifted* candle arrived during the One Room Challenge last year. The navy glass vessel really couldn’t compliment the lounge any more perfectly if I tried. Plus, blue is THE most popular colour preference going so it pleases the colour loving masses.
Halcyon Candle Goodness
Without going anywhere near a match to light your candle up, you’re treated to a cosy scent by just sniffing. Sure, it gets up your nostrils but not in a way that’s overpowering. Instead, it’s an invitation to smell the candle in action, a bit of a missed experience on scent-free candles. When you do get around to burning your candle the whole room is in for a treat.
I suggest you use RELAX in the bedroom or in your lounging spaces when you’re ready to take it easy. The aroma is a delicate myriad of essential oils, pure may I add, with relaxing benefits. Within the 2-4 hours burn time Halcyon Naturals recommend you use it for, the scent kind of drifts around the room in a way that makes it an ideal addition to your meditation practice.
Whatever mood you opt for in your subscription box, there are several tick-worthy factors that make Halcyon Naturals a great choice.
Perfect for the vegans amongst us
Made without being cruel to animals
Void of paraffin
No toxic nasties to clog up your indoor air
Packaging is recyclable rather than pop-able (bubble wrap free)
The Vibe was Powerfully Chilled
So here you are, chilling at home on a glum-weathered weekend, fresh out of the bath and roaming around your house in a state of bliss. It’s the perfect time to keep the good vibe flowing by reaching for a long match and lighting up the BREATH candle.
Rituals like this shouldn’t be taken for granted, the right time to catch up on some reading or set the tone for a productive time at the desk.
I did this myself AND repeated this time and time again and this candle is still surviving. It says 30 hours of burn time on the box but I’m sure I’ve exceeded this and still reap the benefits. RESULT, if I do say so myself.
candle accessories 101
It’s only just dawned on me that putting candles all over a celebration cake ready to be blown out is a recipe for germ spreading. And then it’s carved up and served. Germs aside, it got me thinking about the right way to put a lit candle. The advice I found is to resist blowing the flame out with air from your puffed-up cheeks. Instead, use a snuffer.
A snuffer outs candles safely so you don’t need to huff and puff the flame out. Instead, the oxygen levels are starved, the flame disappears and the candle is safely upheld.
You’re able to get the most out of your candle experience when you use a wick trimmer to take it down to 5 mm after each use.
Do that little extra to save the trees by using an electric lighter, no butane is required. Woo hoo! Matches may be eco-friendly in one sense since they are at least biodegradable BUT they may contain chemical nasties like boric acid and rosin. These chemical nasties aren’t so great and if you’ve already gone to the effort of buying candles that are healthier for you to use, it’s a no-brainer to follow suit here too.
You know, i’m excited for Halcyon Naturals. On sale in the awesome Wolf and Badger and riding off the back of a year in publications like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Health and Wellbeing AND House and Garden. If the mood takes you, check out Halcyon Naturals as a one time purchase or subscription box, because jazzing up you home scent options is a great way of raising the bar at home.
*Halcyon Naturals sponsored this journey entry. While I was gifted product, but no words were put in my mouth. Rest easy, photos and opinions are all my own plus I’m selective in working with brands that align with Persona Abode’s values.
